2022 Label Update

"Silence is broken"... it's been a few years, but we're dipping our toes back in the murky core waters and looking to put out more records. Starting out strong with some positive news, our very own Search For Purpose played their first show in quite a while. It was only a couple songs at the From Within Records Showcase, however it was good to see Matt back on the mic.

The "Eternal Emotion" LP recently had guitars re-recorded, as well as a remix and remaster treatment, which is available in a limited second press through Scheme Records. We're big fans of everything Scheme has cooked up so far, so expect no less here.

It's worth noting that first press copies on blue and purple of the LP are still available in the Exact Change Records store. If you buy a new copy from Scheme, send us an email, and we'll get you first press copies at distro price. Wherever you purchase it from, please don't buy a resell copy! Whoever bought a copy on blue from Discogs for $59.98, I'm looking at you...

In an effort to prevent that sort of collector's absurdity from happening, we are also now on Discogs for your purchasing pleasure. We just have the Search For Purpose record up for now, but may wind up listing more distro back stock and the like later on.

With a recent deep dive in to the warehouse goods, we found a single label shirt in Large remaining, so that's up for cheap in our flagship store. In the coming weeks, we hope to have new zines up, as well as some Nosferatu shirts we've had printed for quite some time that never made it online. Note: will trade records or zines for Mold-A-Rama figurines.

Send demos or records for consideration to our new submission contact, and we'll see you later:

Outback Fanzine #5 and Exact Change 2019 Wrap-Up

With the Christmas holiday coming up, I can't help but wax nostalgic. A lot has happened this year to keep us busy. The Sound Of Commitment summer tour with Point Of Contact and Magnitude was a blast, the Diffuse demo was released, and the Exact Change adjacent Tampa-Core and Core Club produced more shows and releases than ever before.

Coming up in 2020 we have FYA Fest to start off the year, Point Of Contact tour plans more westward bound later on, and the highly-anticipated "Florida's Voice" compilation 7" record featuring Result Of Choice, Jackal, Final Say, Protocol and more. Details will be posted here once those records are available.

To gear up for the Florida hardcore to come in the future, I figured some might want to take some time to appreciate that from the past! Here we have Outback Fanzine #5 out of Melbourne, Florida. This was put out by Craig Chapman (găs'•o•lēne', Outback Records) and totals 44 pages, including the front and back cover. Interviews featured are with Anti-Racist Action, 7 Seconds, The Believers and Skin Shed.

Here is a full preview of The Believers interview, which is my personal favorite part of the zine!

These are super high quality .png scans, which is what I plan to work with moving forward for any other zines - so just make sure you have adequate space when downloading these!

Winter 2018 News

Exact Change Records 7, T.N.T.'s "World Domination", is now available at Steelworker Records and on our online store. If you haven't checked it out yet, you can listen to the release in full on YouTube here. In case you were not yet aware, T.N.T. is an explosive force from Atlanta's underbelly. While you can get an idea of what to expect considering their live covers of I Hate You and Left For Dead, T.N.T. at their core is something else entirely. Wise up or be dominated!

In other news, Exact Change Fanzine 1 and the Final Say Demo are all sold out. Curbed and T.N.T. tapes are all that are in stock, and label tees have gone on sale if you want to grab one. That being said, there are a handful of each release from Exact Change Records 3 all the way to 7 laying around at Steelworker Records in Tampa.

Upcoming, we have the Search For Purpose LP to be released this summer as a joined effort between Exact Change Records and Plead Your Case Records. Two Search For Purpose tracks off of the record, Eternal Emotion and Journey, were posted by Search For Purpose here on their bandcamp. Above is the artwork for that promotional material, and below is a video of their most recent show.

Thanks for reading! Exact Change Fanzine 2 out soon.

Exact Change 2017 Summer Wrap-Up

Exact Change will be moving at a much more deliberate pace starting in Fall 2017, and should certainly show by Winter 2017. Until then, there has been rumblings from Exact Change that you may have missed, so here's the scoop to catch you up.

Curbed is currently writing a new chunk of material to debut the next time they play a show. With modern material and a Rampage cover in tow, Curbed hit the road and ended up on a Damaged City after show. Luckily, hate5six was there to capture the moment.

Final Say released four tracks of straight edge hardcore. Material for a 7" is surfacing between members. Over the summer months, Final Say played our first show with Bind in Tarpon Springs, another in Tampa with Curbed, then hopped on a punk show in Orlando. Final Say will be playing our next show on October 21 in South Florida for Edge Day.

Crisis Unit live tapes have sold out, but there are still a handful of Final Say, Curbed and Hit List tapes in the online store, as well as some discounted label tees. Check that out here and grab some tapes before they're gone. All orders between now and the release of the magazine will receive a promotional pre-zine sheet. Speaking of which...

Exact Change Fanzine #1 has been a long time coming. Years, in fact. You can read more about the story behind the wait in July's Core Club to be released later today. Despite the inner struggle I've gone back and forth about in my mind about the necessity (or lack thereof) of physical magazines in hardcore, I've come to the conclusion that creativity and production is vital to the life's blood of the core community and it's time to put out the magazine without excuse. Though the content has gone through several revisions, expect Exact Change Fanzine #1 with interviews with Substance, Discrepancy, Curbed, Powerhouse and more to be released by the end of August.

Check back soon for new release details.

Magnitude Fanzine - Issue #1

I'm happy to be hosting the digital release of Magnitude Fanzine #1. This zine was organized by my good friend Matt Kalbaugh. A few previews shots are below, but the full high-quality .pdf can be downloaded here. Here's the scoop on this publication:

"After months of procrastinating and attempting to put this together with no prior knowledge of zine making, numerous failed attempts at Office Depot have led me to release the first (and probably only) issue of Magnitude via the power of the internet. Contains interviews with STEP FOR CHANGE (CA), ECOSTRIKE (FL) and REFOCUS (NC), as well as record reviews and a couple little essays. Enjoy!" - Matt K.

DC's MISLED YOUTH and IRON CAGES come to Florida!

To end of the year, Sick Of Talk will be playing at The Bunker in Ybor with two bands visiting from Washington, D.C., Misled Youth and Iron Cages on Friday December 30th. With Transitions Art Gallery closing it's doors over the summer, Tampa has been in a dire search of a new regular punk and hardcore venue. The Bunker has hosted a few shows so far and all have gone well, so come out and make this one even better than the rest! There is still room for one more band to hop on in the next day or so, leave a comment or shoot me an email if you are interested.

Summer of Exact Change

Summer is officially here, and Exact Change Radio is still continuing every Wednesday 6 - 7 PM EST. There will be shows all summer unless otherwise noted on the air or on this blog. The first two shows have already taken place and can be heard here and here. On the show this week, I'll be focusing on one of my long time favorite punk bands, the Ramones. Be sure to tune in to hear more Ramones tracks than usual.

If you want to check out the Exact Change available releases, discuss having your band play live in the studio, or if you just want to come say hi, ECR will have a table set up at this show next week. See you at the first official HC summer gig!

One More Week of Hiatus & Searchin For The Light

Radio shows will resume when the semester starts. Showtime will be changing from 6 - 7 PM on Thursdays to sometime on either a Monday or Wednesday... new time will be announced as soon as it's confirmed. Meanwhile, here at HQ, we're working on getting the UNIFIED RIGHT live tape out before the end of January. We also did some helping out with this fanzine...

Brandon Brandt from St. Pete put out this skateboarding and music fanzine called Searchin' for the Light for FYA Fest last week. If you didn't nab a copy then, now is your chance to read the scans online. Featuring interviews with Ned of Title Fight, Soft Hoagie Rolls, Joshua Lother and Sick of Talk (which I play guitar for and will soon have a release on ECR). Get the scans here.
